Wow – what a week! The shoppers were out in full force this past week – both in stores and online. And yes ….I was one of them! I will admit I am drawn to a great sale – where my husband would “rather pay more that deal with all those shoppers”. But I also enjoy any reason to get out with the girls – so Black Friday shopping has been one of those “reasons” for the last few years.

We just recently returned from our fall buying trip in Asia and as we walked the aisles of the massive trade fairs we again saw lots of owls. Yes, this cat eared bird has become ubiquitous in the home décor and accessory market. Here is a tidbit to impress your friends at a cocktail party, what do you call a group of owls? In the mid-twenties, Brooklyn was the suburbs to Manhattan. The opening of the BMT subway line which ran from Times Square in Manhattan to Coney Island in Brooklyn was an important factor in its rapid growth. My grandfather lived only five or six minutes from the Newkirk Avenue station, an express stop, about thirty minutes to Times Square.
